Legacies: Making a Provision in your Will for SASBAH
and helping to make a difference...

The Sussex Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (SASBAH) has been working as a charitable organisation for over 45 years to help those with these conditions to live a fuller and more independent life.  Over that time, we have developed a wide range of services to meet the needs of this group of disadvantaged people.

A gift to SASBAH will help not only to maintain these services, but also to enable new projects to be completed bringing greater independence to the lives of many who deserve to enjoy the privileges most of us take for granted.  And it will make a lasting difference into the future.

Please click here for more information, a few questions answered, and where to go for further help about legacies.

A big thank you to Natasha, all the Spotlight Players and everyone who has supported their recent productions, making this generous donation possible.

SASBAH Challenges

London to Paris Cycle and Charity Challenge

Jenny
Gue  successfully completed her cycle ride from London to Paris at the end of July.  This is what she had to say after it was all over. “I made it to Paris about 4.30 on Sunday afternoon.  It was 3 long days, but excellent fun.....My legs are a bit tired now but I am over the moon with making it so far.  Everyone has been so supportive and generous with their sponsorship money.”  Jenny used Charity Challenge, one of several companies who organise a wide variety of “open” challenges which can be booked by anyone in support of their chosen charity.  If you are interested in finding out more about the challenges on offer, go to
www.charitychallenge.com.  SASBAH has registered with Charity Challenge and can offer support to anyone wanting to undertake a challenge to help raise funds.  Thanks to Jenny and everyone who supported her, SASBAH has benefitted by over £850.

Woman's marathon bid inspired by her best mate

Victoria after the Marathon

Friendship has inspired a woman to take on the challenge of her first marathon. Victoria Butler is running the Brighton Marathon on April 18 in aid of the Sussex Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, SASBAH.The 39-year-old chose to support the charity as her best friend, Paul Cook, suffers from the condition. She said: "I wanted to choose a charity close to my heart and personal to me. "When I was in a bike accident Paul was there for me and kept me going through that time." The pair, who have been friends for 28 years, live just around the corner from each other in Tilgate. Paul, 43, said: "We have been friends for so long that we see each other more as family."I hope to be in Brighton on the day to give Victoria my support as she is raising awareness for a charity which is not so well known. "It is a great feeling to know a very close friend of mine is taking part to support such a worthwhile charity." Victoria hopes to raise as much money as possible through sponsorship and has set an initial target of £250. A spokesman for SASBAH said: "The contributions made through community support events and by fundraisers are crucial in financing the general running of the association."

Victoria received tremendous support and raised over £500.
