Fundraising

  SASBAH needs funds to carry out all its services and programmes. We raise money in a variety of ways.  The pie-chart below shows where the main contributions came from in 2011:

We are  immensely grateful to every person and organisation that has helped us and the  community we serve.  But the need for new  funds does not diminish, and there are many ways in which you can help.  If you believe in what we do, and in the  value of supporting those with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus, please choose  the way that suits you best and help us to help this group.

There are many ways you can help:

• Consider  leaving a legacy to SASBAH in your will.   This will not only enable us to maintain the services and develop new projects to meet emerging needs, but also enable your memory to be linked  permanently to the work that SASBAH does.   We have teamed up with a local firm of solicitors, Stephen Rimmer LLP,  who offer a free will writing service and can answer detailed questions. • Join  SASBAH as a member for just £5 a year.  You do not have to have the conditions to be a member (though most  members are service users), but just to support the charity and its aims.  Membership brings with it all the news of  what’s going on, through quarterly newsletters and our annual review, as well  as the opportunity to join in with all our activities.  The membership application form is here.

• Join in our many community fundraising activities as a volunteer – not only  do they raise essential funds, but they are fun and increase awareness of disabilities in the community.  We are  seeking to increase the number of events we hold, and broaden the number of  towns and villages that we hold them in, so that we can truly reach out to the whole  community of the two counties we serve.  For more information on what’s happening and when, click here.

• Undertake  a charity challenge for SASBAH, by signing up to a challenge that could  be a lifetime’s ambition.  Anything from  running a marathon, to skydiving from 10,000 feet, to trekking to lost cities,  to climbing one of the world’s highest mountains.  Or simply losing a few pounds in a bid to get  into that dress or suit again!  Whatever  you choose, SASBAH can help you reach your goal, while at the same time raise  funds for the charity.  For further  information, click here.

• Make  a pledge to become a regular donor each month to charity through a  standing order in favour of SASBAH.  This  is one of the most beneficial ways to help, because it provides an assured  income.  Even a very modest donation of  £2 a month makes a huge difference.  More  information is available here.

• Become  an Ambassador for SASBAH.  This  means that you will help promote the charity in some significant way, or help  set up some major event in support of what we do, or simply be the local  representative for SASBAH in your town or village.  There are roles too for Young Ambassadors,  who would act as champions of SASBAH in their schools or colleges.  Find out more here.

• Encourage  your company, employer, or retail outlet to become a corporate partner.  This could entail making SASBAH a ‘Charity of  the Year’ for a particular company, or a link between Saspire and the company  to deliver services or products, or a sponsorship arrangement to support our  newsletter and annual review, or carrying out pro bono work for us (eg printing, or legal work).  SASBAH guarantees to provide appropriate  promotional opportunity to every organisation with whom it teams up.  For more information click here.
