Services

ADVISORS

We have a team of advisers who provide information, advice, support, and advocacy to people with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. They also act as a resource to non specialist agencies on matters relating to spina bifida and hydrocephalus.

The ASBAH Advisers work very closely with SASBAH by assisting and supporting those with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus in Sussex. They advise individuals, families and other professionals within the voluntary and statutory sector on a range of issues and have specialist knowledge of the conditions.

EDUCATION ADVISOR SERVICE

The Education Advisor works with families, schools and colleges, to ensure that our service users get the best from their education and reach their full potential.  The advisor also aims to enhance staff’s understanding of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. We also support  young people on vocational courses or voluntary work placements. If an educational problem arises or you need any advice or support please contact margaret@sasbah.org.uk

MEDICAL

A special clinic is held for over 16s in the Clinical Services Department of Chailey Heritage, giving those attending the chance to see a consultant, a specialist nurse, an occupational therapist, a physiotherapist, a wheelchair expert and an adviser.

FAMILY SUPPORT

We bring families in similar circumstances together so they can share experiences and learn from each other.

RESIDENTIAL WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS

A variety of weekends and holidays are organised through the year for children and adults. We always need volunteers to help us have fun!

WELFARE

SASBAH makes grants to service users when no statutory help is available.

SPECIAL NEEDS YOUTH CLUBS

SASBAH has two youth clubs one in West Sussex and one in East Sussex. Both clubs are made up of members aged between 11 and 25 years old and with any disability. They are both a safe and informal environment for young people to gain confidence and learn new skills.

YOUNG PEOPLES COMMITTEE

A committee made up of young service users has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund to form and help shape the future of our services.
