Social Programme

The SASBAH Social Programme

The Social Programme aims to improve social integration,  develop social skills, enable people to enjoy leisure pursuits, and assist with  aspects of independent living in the community.

We  organise a full and varied programme of events and activities for people  of all ages, based mainly on the wishes and recommendations of the programme  users themselves. On average there are about 10 events across Sussex each month  (over 80 events during 2014), ranging from informal lunches and dinners;  through quiz nights, theatre and cinema outings, and other special events such  as Christmas Balls; to sports activities such as swimming, bowling and  football, shopping outings, and club nights.

We  encourage everyone to put forward ideas about what events and activities they  would like to enjoy, so please let Lisa or Rom know of any suggestions you  have.

In  addition, our associated residential breaks programme forms an important  part of the social inclusion work undertaken, offering 4 or 5 holidays each  year which in total enable some 100 people to enjoy what for many is their only  break in the year, and to engage with others not only in a social environment,  but also in new activities which challenge them, and from which they learn and  gain hugely in self-confidence.

If you  would like to know more about the Social Programme, or wish to volunteer to  help with one or more activity, please contact Lisa (the West Sussex and  Brighton Co-ordinator) on 07725 433136 or email; or Rom (the East Sussex Co-ordinator)  on 07920 506364 or email
